The Outlaw Ocean, Journeys across the last untamed frontier – Ian Urbina

Through investigative journalism it reveals how “the rule of law” at sea is a very different concept to that on land. So who is actually protecting the ocean? It is such a vital ecosystem that currently is still being exploited by so many companies and countries.

On Human Nature – Edward O Wilson

I liked how he breaks down some of the basics of human existence (sex, religion, altruism, etc) and layers on how those aspects relate to and interact and create our relationships with the natural environment. (And really anything by him is a worthwhile read.)

Let My People Go Surfing – Yvon Chouinard

A fantastic story about how Patagonia has stood the test of time by being 100% guided by their mission of using business to protect nature. To them, it’s simple: if there’s no nature, there is no Patagonia.

The China Study – T Colin Campbell

Everybody knows it as the bible for vegans, but the research and rigour truly equips everyone with the groundwork to back a vegan diet for absolute health, wellbeing and planet care.

Radical Simplicity – Jim Merkel

This was assigned reading in my masters and I just loved how he breaks down what it really takes to live as environmentally considerate as possible. Complete with little self-tests and fun anecdotes, I really recommend this to anyone who likes a little math behind the science behind the lifestyle of sustainability.
