Environmental disclosure in the Philippines – CDP workshop
The Purpose Business is pleased to be supporting the first CDP workshop in the Philippines.
This one-day workshop will bring together companies, investors and cities in the Philippines to facilitate cross-sectoral knowledge-sharing on environmental disclosure and the key actions needed for the transition to a sustainable, resilient economy.
For companies planning to or considering disclosing with CDP, this workshop will be a valuable opportunity to learn more about the disclosure process and key information on CDP’s 2018 questionnaires, which are sector-specific for certain high impact sectors, and which incorporate the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures.
In 2017, 21 cities and 10 companies in the Philippines disclosed environmental data to CDP. Meanwhile, the Philippines has been ranked as a country with a very high level of exposure and vulnerability to more frequent and/or more severe climatic events for which the country should prepare. In addition, more than 44% of the total population in the Philippines is urban. Therefore, tackling climate change in cities will be critical to the transition to a low carbon and resilient economy.
The workshop will cover:
- Overview of CDP’s work, strategic goals, and the role of companies, investors and cities in the Philippines and the wider region in environmental action
- Panel discussion: Strategic, evidence-based climate action in the transition to sustainable communities and a low-carbon economy
- Sharing of experiences, challenges and successes of disclosing to CDP and taking action on climate change by a disclosing company and city
- Breakout sessions for companies, investors, and cities
